My Gakidh Village
“My Gakidh Village” (MGV) meaning “My happiness village” was formally launched during 2013 in Toepisa gewog under Punakha. My Gakidh Village can be defined as a cluster of several existing villages connected either by age-old traditional trails or significant common religious or historical beliefs. Similarly, communities residing in MGV is mostly observed to have significant comparable resemblance among themselves. The primary objective of this project had been to empower youth by generating employment in the MGV by up-scaling the socio-economic conditions in rural areas driven by the broad thematic concept of Eco-tourism and subsequently curb rural to urban youth migration. Further, in order to sustain and portray the authenticity of MGV communities, most income generating activities devised as a co-operative business ultimately cater to the essence of Eco-tourism thereby also enhancing culture and conservation.
