Haa Visitor Information Center (HVIC)
HVIC is a multipurpose platform designed for comprehensive solutions to addressing multiple needs of tourism stakeholders (such as visitor, community, tour operators and government) necessary for the development of community-based sustainable ecotourism program. The center in this regard plays a critical role in Haa Dzongkhag’s mission to promote community-based sustainable tourism.
Ideally located at the heart of Haa town, the physical structure of the HVIC was built by the Haa Dzongkhag Administration through the financial support of the Royal Government of Bhutan. And the interior layouts, equipment’s, display, exhibits and furniture and fixtures are provided by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) with technical support from the Japan Environment Education Forum (JEEF), funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Keidanren Nature Conservation Fund (KNCF) project.
The visitor center has a foyer with a 50-seat capacity, organic cafeteria, restrooms, display room to hold a temporary exhibition, learning lab (hands-on activity rooms) and food processing & packaging room to cater to the guests.
Henceforth, HVIC will function to be a vibrant marketplace so that tourism offerings, community-based tourism business, authentic agro, cultural and culinary products find a competitive advantage by setting them apart from the rest of the destinations.
